NEW HAVEN BEGINS STORM CLEANUP

(10/30/2011) Mayor John DeStefano, Jr., announced today, October 30, 2011, that cleanup operations have begun following yesterday’s snowstorm.

High winds and wet snow brought down more than 75 trees citywide resulting in scattered power outages. The Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees have deployed crews across the city to clear streets of downed trees and storm debris. The City is coordinating efforts with United Illuminating to restore power to affected residents.

New Haven residents should bring to the curb branches brought down by the storm so that DPW crews, over the next weeks, can remove the debris.
